The BOE publishes the appointments of Gómez and Miñones as Ministers of Industry and Health and the dismissals of Maroto and Darias

MADRID, 28 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Official State Gazette (BOE) includes in its edition this Tuesday the appointment of Héctor Gómez as Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, and José Manuel Miñones as the new head of the Ministry of Health. At the same time, it includes the dismissal of Reyes Maroto and Carolina Darias, who have left their positions to be PSOE candidates for the mayoralties of Madrid and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in the municipal elections on May 28.

By means of four royal decrees, the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, appoints Gómez and Miñones as new members of the Council of Ministers, at the same time that he orders the dismissal of both Maroto and Darias, "thanking" both "for the services rendered" .

The newly appointed will be sworn in on Tuesday in an act at the Palacio de la Zarzuela and later the Council of Ministers will participate in its first meeting, which will be held this Tuesday.

They will take the oath or promise of office at 9 in the morning at the Palacio de la Zarzuela in an act presided over by King Felipe VI and which will also be attended by the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez.

The inauguration of Miñones will then take place at the Ministry of Health, according to the schedule provided by Moncloa, at around 9:45 a.m. Later, at 10.30 am, Gómez will do the same in the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism.

Finally, both will be able to participate in their first meeting of the Council of Ministers in Moncloa. Usually this body meets on Tuesdays first thing in the morning, but in this case the call has been postponed until 11:30 a.m. to fit the acts and that the new ministers can carry out their duties.

It was yesterday when Sánchez announced the appointment of Gómez and Miñones to replace Reyes Maroto and Carolina Darias, respectively, who are leaving the Government to compete for the mayoralties of Madrid and Las Palmas in the May 28 elections.

The head of the Executive recalled that Gómez was already part of Reyes Maroto's team in Industry, who has been spokesman for the Socialist Parliamentary Group in Congress and currently performs the functions of president of the Parliament's Constitutional Commission. In addition, he was CEO of Turespaña in 2018 and 2019.

As for Miñones, he pointed out that he has carried out the task of Government delegate in Galicia up to now. In his case, he will be the first Pharmacy graduate appointed Minister of Health.
