Sumar urges the PSOE to control food prices in a legislature that is not going to be "procedural"

MADRID, 7 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The deputy spokesperson for Sumar and leader of En Comú Podem, Aina Vidal, has warned the PSOE, in the midst of negotiations to reissue the coalition Government, that the legislature is not going to be "procedural" and has cited the increase in food prices and access to housing as the main economic challenges to be faced.

"I think that the PSOE may be tempted to believe that this is a procedural legislature and this is not going to be and cannot be," Vidal said in statements to RNE's 'Parliament' collected by Europa Press.

In this framework, Sumar's deputy spokesperson has indicated that this future Executive of PSOE and Sumar has "many" challenges on the table. Among them is the rise in prices, especially in food and oil.

Regarding this last product, the deputy has stressed the need to take measures, since she believes that it has become the "new oil." "We have, therefore, to continue taking measures to reduce this unbearable inflation, especially in the area of food," said Vidal.

Next, Aina Vidal commented on the problems related to access to housing. Specifically, she has said that people either "can't afford" a home or are "losing it" due to mortgage or rent increases.

"This Government has a lot of work ahead of it and deserves both a Prime Minister and a coalition at the height of the moment and with sufficient and necessary ambition," he concluded.
