The event was aimed at professionals from Alumni, communication, fundraising and marketing entities, as well as heads of entities linked to education or research in Spain.

The conference, in which national and international speakers participated, has also served to share success stories to grow in communication, marketing, fundraising and in relations with alumni of educational institutions.

Barcelona, ​​March 13, 2024.- More than 70 people have participated in a day at UIC Barcelona to propose strategies and good practices in the management of Alumni entities, communication, fundraising and marketing with the aim of contributing to improving the sustainability and reputation of higher education institutions. The event, organized by the prestigious international association Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), which brings together more than 3,000 institutions and nearly 100,000 professionals, was aimed especially at those responsible for entities linked to higher education and research, and It also had the presence of some international schools. The welcome was given by the rector of UIC Barcelona, ​​Alfonso Méndiz, and the president and CEO of CASE, Sue Cunningham, who thanked the attendees for their participation in this international forum.

In this context, Méndiz has highlighted the internationality and global mentality of UIC Barcelona, ​​with 30% international students and 106 nationalities living together on the two campuses.

For her part, president Sue Cunningham highlighted that CASE "focuses on shaping the future of our profession, transforming education and impacting society. It is now more crucial than ever to support institutions in this effort. It is truly "It is wonderful to have the opportunity to gather here, representing 80 countries from around the world. We are a global family, united in our mission to support our members into the future."

After the welcome words, national experts and experts from different European countries participated in a debate on how to grow, direct and monitor the institutional reputation of an organization to facilitate fundraising, university promotion and the commitment of the Alumni community.

In this panel, titled 'The role of leadership in building institutional reputation', in addition to the president and CEO of CASE, the vice-rector of the University of York, Charlie Jeffery; the director of Corporate Development of UIC Barcelona, ​​Juan Pablo Garrido; the Deputy Vice-Rector for External Relations of the University of Glasgow, Rachel Sandison, and the General Director of Reputation and Executive Director of the Center for University Governance and Reputation of the University of Navarra, Santiago Fernández-Gubieda.

In this panel, Rachel Sandison stated: "We want to be the best university for the world, not the best university in the world", emphasizing that it is necessary to invest in reputation management.

In this sense, Fernández-Gubieda has highlighted that "managing reputation involves improving performance through equality, research and knowledge transfer. Cultivating intangible assets such as values ​​and identity, listening to interested parties and learning from context are crucial for decision-making at all levels.

For his part, Juan Pablo Garrido added that one of the challenges facing Universities is their economic sustainability, which is why fundraising will be increasingly relevant. In this context, he has commented that it is necessary to be able to offer a good scholarship and aid program to guarantee equal opportunities for students.

After the panel of experts, attendees were able to learn some techniques to develop effective strategies in their respective entities through practical cases. The challenges and opportunities posed specifically by Fundraising and relations with alumni have also been analyzed.

The conference, which was held in the Saló de Graus of UIC Barcelona, ​​also served for attendees to share experiences and establish work contacts with experts and professionals from all over Europe.

The Director of Corporate Development at UIC Barcelona, ​​Juan Pablo Garrido, highlighted that "it has been an honor for UIC Barcelona to be able to host this CASE event, which brings together more than 300 institutions in Europe, among which is our University." Garrido was appointed in October last year as a member of the European advisory board of CASE, an international association whose objective is to promote the development of educational institutions around the world.

Among its services, CASE offers seminars, conferences, reflection forums and training aimed at professionals who work in areas such as fundraising, communication, marketing or institutional alliances. Currently, CASE brings together more than 3,000 universities and 100,000 professionals from around the world.
