Some 20,000 people demonstrate this Saturday in the capital in support of "the struggle of the Palestinian people"

A demonstration passed through the center of the capital this Saturday, from Atocha to Plaza España, in support of "the struggle of the Palestinian people" bringing together some 20,000 people, as reported to Europa Press by the Government Delegation.

The protest, called by the Madrid Assembly with Palestine and supported by more than 180 organizations, has traveled through the streets of Madrid from 4 to 6:30 p.m.

The protesters have been led by a car equipped with a public address system that has temporarily interrupted Madrid traffic, accompanied by posters and made to sound with chants such as 'Where are, can't you see, the sanctions on Israel?', 'Zionist State' , terrorist state', 'It is not a war, it is a genocide' or 'The stolen lands will be recovered'.

"We denounce this genocide, this atrocity committed by the State of Israel, permitted by Europe and sponsored by the United States," Yaiza stressed in statements to Europa Press. She, as a member of the 'Welcome Refugees' platform from La Rioja, says that she has been attending this type of protests for years.

For her part, Begoña, who works in a social center in Vallecas, has stressed that, although recently the International Court of Justice "has accepted that what happened in Israel is a genocide," she regrets that, "due to mostly economic interests," the institution "I'm not going to do much to bring about a ceasefire."

Last Friday the International Court of Justice (ICJ) warned that it saw "indications of genocide" and called on Israel to take "all possible measures" to prevent it. He was thus responding to the demand presented by the Government of South Africa, who has described this as a "decisive victory" for International Law.

Upon arrival in Cibeles, in front of the capital's City Hall, the protesters protested the role of the Consistory and the Community of Madrid in Palestine and called them "accomplices" and "direct collaborators."

"They support the Israeli regime to strengthen itself internationally," they have cried. The demonstration, which lasted just over two hours, concluded with the reading of a statement, with which they gave voice to the denunciation of the "Zionist regime", "protected, assisted and supported by military, political, logistical, media , economically and diplomatically" by "Western powers like the United States.

Through the manifesto they have demanded, among other things, a ceasefire, the entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip and the withdrawal of the "occupation army."
