Sirera (PP) on his support for Collboni (PSC): "Nobody from Madrid has told me what I had to do"

BARCELONA, 18 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The leader of the PP in Barcelona, Daniel Sirera, has defended the autonomy of his decision to support with his votes the investiture of the new mayor of Barcelona, Jaume Collboni (PSC): "Nobody from Madrid has told me what I had to do."

"What I did was tell my colleagues from Madrid to help us make a good pact for the city of Barcelona", he said in an interview in 'Rac1' collected by Europa Press this Sunday.

Specifically, he explained that he contacted the general coordinator of the PP, Elías Bendodo, to help him "force the PSOE to force the communes not to be in the government" of the City Council.

Sirera has said that he and his councilors entered the plenary session of investiture this Saturday "without being clear" what they were going to do, and has stated verbatim that they made the decision to invest Collboni two minutes before starting.

He has celebrated having kept his word during the campaign: "I always said since they proclaimed me a candidate that I would not make a separatist mayor and that I would do what was in my power so that those from Colau were not in the municipal government."
