Shares of Berlusconi's conglomerate soar after the death of the Italian businessman and politician

The shares of MediaForEurope (MFE), formerly Mediaset, the media group founded by Silvio Berlusconi and controlled through Fininvest, traded with increases that have reached around 10% after learning of the death of the Italian businessman and politician at the age of 86 of age before corporate movements that may occur in the future.

In this sense, the newspaper 'Il Sole 24 Ore' highlights that the news of the death of Silvio Berlusconi has prompted the purchase of shares of listed companies linked to Fininvest under the hypothesis that the disappearance of the founder may lead to a reorganization in the structure of control of the corporate conglomerate.

In this way, MFE class A shares rose 9.67% on the Milan Stock Exchange, while class B titles traded with a revaluation of more than 8%.

Likewise, other shares linked to the conglomerate such as those of the Mondadori publishing house, controlled by Fininvest, registered a rise of almost 2%, while those of the German ProsiebenSat rebounded almost 5% on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.

Former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, a central figure in Italian politics in recent decades, died this Monday at the age of 86 in the Milan hospital where he had been hospitalized for several days, suffering from leukemia.

Berlusconi's health had worsened in recent months and concern increased in early April, when he was admitted to Milan's San Raffaele hospital in intensive care. It was then confirmed that he had leukemia and, although he was discharged 45 days later, last week he returned to the center again.

Several members of his family, including several of his children, had traveled to the clinic this Monday morning, reports the AdnKronos agency. In recent days, she has also received the support of representatives of Italian politics, especially his partners in the Government.

Berlusconi, founder of Forza Italia, has held the head of government three times: between May 1995 and January 1995, between June 2001 and May 2006, and between May 2008 and November 2011. His party is also a member of the current government coalition, together with Matteo Salvini's League and Giorgia Meloni's Brothers of Italy.
