Russia accuses Ukraine of "a terrorist attack" after the shooting down of four drones around Moscow

The Russian government says Zelensky "carries out these attacks with weapons supplied by the West or purchased with Western funds."

MADRID, 4 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Government of Russia has accused Ukraine on Tuesday of "a terrorist attack" after the demolition of four drones in the Moscow region and has pointed out that among the objectives there was "civilian infrastructure", including the Moscow-Vnukovo International Airport, which has briefly suspended its operations.

"This morning an attempt by the Kiev regime to carry out a terrorist attack with five unmanned aerial devices against points in the Moscow region and New Moscow has been dismantled," the Russian Defense Ministry said through its Telegram account.

Thus, he has specified that "air defense systems have destroyed four Ukrainian drones in New Moscow", before adding that a fifth device "has been eliminated with electronic warfare means and has crashed in the territory of the Odintsovo district, in the Moscow region". "There are no victims or damage", she has underlined her.

For her part, the spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zajarova, pointed out on Telegram that "the Kiev regime's attempt to attack an area where there is civilian infrastructure, including the airport, which, by the way, accepts foreign flights, is another act of terrorism.

"Taking into account that (Ukrainian President Volodimir) Zelensky is carrying out these terrorist attacks with weapons delivered by the West or purchased with Western funds, it is intentional terrorism," he explained in a message on his Telegram account.

For this reason, Zajarova has emphasized that "the world community must realize that the United States, the United Kingdom and France, permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, finance a terrorist regime", in reference to Kiev.

Russian President Vladimir Putin blamed Ukraine at the end of May for "terrorist" drone attacks in the capital, suggesting that such incidents seek to "provoke a response from Russia" amid the invasion of the neighboring country, unleashed in February 2022 by order of the Russian president himself. In addition, Moscow blamed Kiev in early May for another attack on the Kremlin that it described as an "assassination attempt" on Putin.
