Renfe will begin operating with Leo Express in Slovakia from December 10

Leo Express, the Czech railway operator owned 50% by Renfe, will begin to circulate in Slovakia on December 10 with 21 Alstom trains on a 95-kilometer line that runs along the Danube River and connects the capital, Bratislava. , and Komárno, on the border with Hungary.

Slovakia will thus become the third country in which the Spanish public company operates, although in this case indirectly, and after doing so first in Saudi Arabia with the so-called 'AVE to Mecca' and recently also in France, in cities like Marseille and Lyon, the second and third largest cities in the neighboring country.

Leo Express will thus take over from ZSSK, the Slovak public operator, and ÖBB, its Austrian counterpart, which have carried out the operations of this line until now, as the Czech operator has informed Europa Press, announcing that it will put Tickets will soon be on sale starting at 5.25 euros.

In addition to having as passengers people who commute daily for work, study or leisure, this line welcomes tourists who come to this region to take the Eurovelo 6 cycling route, visit spas or see the military architecture in Kormáno. .

In December 2022, Renfe leased the 21 trains to Alstom from its Coradia platform that will be used on this line through its subsidiary Renfe Rental, this being the first international operation carried out by this subsidiary. These are trains with capacity for 240 passengers, 140 of them seated.

Leo Express has already operated in Slovakia since 2014 on the route between Kosice and Prague. The rest of its services are completed with connections in Poland between Prague and Krakow and between Prague and Wroclaw. In these countries it also operates several bus routes.
