The Government of Qatar has affirmed this Friday that there are "negotiations" underway between Israel and the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) to restore the truce agreed on November 24, hours after it expired due to the lack of an agreement for its extension. , which has led to a restart of fighting in the Gaza Strip.

The Qatari Foreign Ministry has indicated through a statement published on its account on the social network has stressed that "negotiations between the two parties continue with the aim of returning to the state of pause."

Thus, he stressed that Doha "is committed, together with the mediation partners, to continuing the efforts that led to the humanitarian pause", before adding that Qatar "will not hesitate to do everything necessary to achieve a return to calm." . Shortly before, the Gaza Health Ministry, controlled by Hamas, denounced the death of more than 30 Palestinians in the bombings carried out by Israel since the end of the truce.

In this way, the Qatari Foreign Ministry has stressed that "the continued bombing of the Gaza Strip in the first hours after the end of the pause complicates mediation efforts and deepens the humanitarian catastrophe in the Strip", which is why who has called on the international community to "act quickly to stop the violence."

"Qatar reiterates its condemnation of all types of attacks against civilians, the practice of collective punishment and attempts to forcibly displace citizens in the fenced Gaza Strip, as well as its demand for an immediate ceasefire and guarantee the handover continued and unrestricted humanitarian aid convoys in a way that meets the needs of the residents of the Strip," he stressed.

The truce, agreed with the mediation of Qatar and Egypt, came into force on November 24 with a duration of four days, although it was extended twice for a total of three more days. On this occasion, the parties have failed to agree on a new extension, while Israel has rejected calls for a ceasefire.

The Israeli Army launched an offensive against the Palestinian enclave after the attacks carried out on October 7 by Hamas, which left some 1,200 dead and nearly 240 kidnapped.
