Puig assures that there will be no "bullrings" in his electoral campaign: "They are part of the past"

He defines his relationship with Compromís as "frank, loyal and very comfortable"

He says he has "quite significant" data on who Valencians prefer as 'president'

VALENCIA, 9 Apr. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The 'president' of the Generalitat and candidate for re-election by the PSPV, Ximo Puig, has advanced that in his electoral campaign there will be no rallies in "bullrings", alluding to the events held in Valencia, and that it will count with the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, in these events until May 28.

"We want to carry out a campaign of squares, not of the square", he has defended in an interview with Europa Press, since he has maintained that the campaign events in the Valencia bullring "are part of other episodes of the past".

Its objective is to carry out a campaign "much more capillarized in the territory" and "to flee from marketing to land in the reality of the citizens", although it has recognized that there will be "some more important acts". "We want to create a space in which not only the candidates or myself speak, but also dialogue with associations and entities," she explained.

Faced with this campaign, Puig has reiterated his desire to represent the majority of Valencians and "govern for all", and to do so "without sectarianism or fanaticism or hints of any kind of confrontation".

"We are going to have thousands of conversations that add up to a great conversation", he illustrated, to insist that in these elections "it is at stake if we look forward and continue advancing or return to the worst of our past".

For this, he sees it necessary to "be aware" that the PSPV must account for its management at the head of the Generalitat and also for its "weaknesses, of course, and how to overcome them." "We face the campaign after eight years of government in which all the indicators have improved, knowing that much more remains to be done," he asserted.

Along these lines, Puig has once again defended that "the Valencian path is the correct one" and that his intention is to govern until the last minute without "any campaign action" ahead of time: "Now is the time to explain to us and, at the same time, collect all concerns from an open vision".

On whether he will have Sánchez at campaign events, he has guaranteed that the president "will come", as he will do next weekend at the Municipal Convention that the PSOE will hold in Valencia with the candidates for the local elections.

Puig has stressed that it is an "important" decision that his party has chosen the capital of Túria for this event, as well as "a recognition of the state of the Valencian Community". "The Community is experiencing a good moment", he has repeated, linking it to "stability and social peace".

Asked if the presence of Sánchez adds to him, despite decisions such as not advancing in regional financing or cutting the Tajo-Segura transfer, he has defended that apart from these "pending problems" that the Generalitat will continue to claim, the social policy of the Government has meant "a great benefit for Valencian society".

"We can speak and clearly specify where the problems are. We represent the Valencians and the Generalitat will always defend the general interest of the Community. On many occasions we have agreed with the Government, I would say that in the vast majority, but on others not. For Therefore, it is evident what our position is", he stated.

As for whether the campaign will focus on Alicante, as it is the province that seems most disputed, he has guaranteed that he will continue to have a "very important" presence there because "it is essential in the Community's project."

Looking at the opposition campaign, Puig has insisted that the PPCV "has no project for this society" and has accused them of trying to make the regional elections "a kind of referendum on the future of the Government" or an attempt to "primaries" of the generals. "It is absolutely ridiculous and a lack of respect for the citizenry," he denounced.

On the contrary, he has emphasized that in these elections it is about "returning to the black past of the PP, with still visible consequences in corruption, or continuing to bet on social dialogue, political stability and permanent improvement": "In that we are".

Questioned by the polls managed by the PSPV, Puig has remarked that they are "photos of the moment and states of opinion" and has recognized that "obviously there is a situation of balances" between the left and right blocks as in the rest of Europe, but he has defended that people should know "what they are going to vote for".

Of course, he has reiterated his confidence that there will be a "social majority" that will support them. "We have data that, above all, endorse the government's management and other quite significant ones regarding who the citizens would prefer to be the president," she assured, and has predicted that many voters will decide their vote at the last moment.

Regarding the relationship between his government partners, stressed by their integration into the Sumar platform promoted by Vice President Yolanda Díaz, Puig has limited himself to highlighting the agreement reached between Podem and Esquerra Unida to converge in the autonomous communities and in around 50 municipalities , since "it facilitates the voter's decision-making capacity and eliminates risks of atomization."

"I hope to represent a broad majority; that is what I am working on, as transversally as possible", he added, and has vindicated the progressive project that he leads "without fanaticism, open and Valencian since the conception of the five million Valencian looks" .

Faced with Podem's criticism of Compromís for not wanting to join them and supporting Sumar, Puig has pointed out that "on the electoral board each one decides their arguments" and has urged them to "look" at the citizens and not focus the campaign on "partisan debates": "Citizens have to be told how you are going to do it, how you are going to finance it and how you face the future."

Inquired about his relationship with Compromís, he stressed: "She is positive, she is frank, she is loyal and, humanly speaking, very comfortable." He did not want to go into whether he could reissue the Botànic government together with this coalition, without Unides Podem, since he has insisted that he aspires to achieve "the best possible result": "Now it is about each one explaining themselves and the citizens decide".

On the other hand, the candidate has defended that the PSPV was willing to lower the electoral bar from 5 to 3%, although "it was never a priority", but it was impossible because Ciudadanos did not want to and a majority "as solid as possible" was necessary. in Les Cortes.

It is something that has been linked to the lack of agreement to renew the statutory bodies with expired mandates, which has been framed in line with the "new old leadership of the PPCV". "Hopefully when the current address changes we can do it," he said.

And looking to the future, he has ruled out talking about a possible change of ministers if he continues as president: "The truth is that I have not thought about it yet. At this time, the government is a team that respects itself and that is meeting its objectives."

As a balance, the 'president' has praised the co-responsibility and "very high understanding" of Valencians in a legislature marked by restrictions during the pandemic: "We made very tough decisions and society supported it in the majority. Here denialism had a minimal influence We came out better than many other communities because we knew how to grit our teeth."
