Princess Leonor receives the affection of the people of Zaragoza in the offering of ladies and cadets of the AGM to the Virgin of Pilar

ZARAGOZA, 6 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Her Royal Highness Princess Leonor participated this Friday in the traditional floral offering by the ladies and gentlemen cadets of the General Military Academy to the Virgin of Pilar, on the day prior to her Flag Oath. She has received the affection and applause of hundreds of Zaragoza residents gathered in the square.

The heir to the throne, wearing the uniform of a lady cadet and with a smiling gesture, arrived at the Plaza del Pilar around 6:30 p.m., where hundreds of Zaragoza residents were waiting to see the arrival of the Princess.

Leonor de Borbón has starred, along with the other 411 new cadets of the General Military Academy of Zaragoza, in this traditional floral offering to the Virgin of Pilar, which is carried out every year prior to the swearing of the flag.

Upon arriving at the square, Princess Leonor placed herself in the fourth row of her company, where she waited for the parade. From there, in groups, the ladies and cadets have entered the Basilica of Our Lady of Pilar to make the offering.

Inside the temple they were received by the Archbishop of Zaragoza, Monsignor Carlos Escribano, who made a response in a private event lasting around half an hour.

The offering serves as a prelude to the most solemn event, which will be held this Saturday, October 7, at the General Military Academy of Zaragoza, in which Princess Leonor will swear in the flag in an act presided over by the King and Queen of Spain, Don Felipe VI and Doña Letizia.

As a novelty, on this occasion, the heir to the throne will swear the flag along with the rest of her fellow cadets from the General Corps, Infantry, Quartermaster and Polytechnic Engineers of the Army, as well as the Civil Guard, unlike her father. , which he did alone on October 11, 1987.

Last Monday, October 2, the acting Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles, visited the General Military Academy of Zaragoza, where she checked the status of preparations for the Flag Oath this Saturday.

The director of the General Military Academy, General Manuel Pérez, has confirmed that the Princess is "perfectly integrated with her classmates" and has carried out all the activities, both those in the first year and those specific to her study plan. "She's doing really well," he said.
