PP demands Sánchez responsibilities for the yes is yes law after lowering the sentence of a man who abused a girl

MADRID, 26 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The deputy secretary for Social Policies and the Demographic Challenge of the PP, Carmen Fúnez, has demanded that the acting President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, "assume responsibility" for the "only yes is yes" law after learning that the Supreme Court has lowered in one year, he sentences a man who sexually abused an 11-year-old girl.

In statements to the media in Tomelloso (Ciudad Real), Fúnez has asserted the need for greater responsibilities for this law, which is what has allowed this sentence reduction and which, according to data provided by the 'popular', has enabled the release of 117 sexual offenders and has reduced more than 1,127 sentences.

"With these figures, Sánchez would have to give explanations and assume responsibilities," Fúnez stressed in the face of the "absolutely irreversible" consequences of the rule. He also recalled the recent attempted sexual assault in Dos Hermanas (Seville) by a man who has seen his sentence reduced in two months due to the application of the 'only yes is yes' law.

The deputy secretary of the PP has recalled that her formation warned that these events could occur with the approval of the norm, as they did, said Fúnez, the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ) and other "experts" in the field of equality, sexual assaults and justice.

"This, unfortunately, is going to be a trickle of sentence reductions, releases and putting sexual offenders on the street," Fúnez emphasized, to assert that all this "cannot be fixed with a pardon" and the "assumption of responsibilities" for what he has described as the "worst law that has been approved against women in democracy".
