PP accuses the Government of vetoing Marlaska's appearance in the Senate and substituting him for a high position to talk about Filomena

MADRID, 1 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Popular Group in the Senate has accused the Government of preventing the Interior Minister, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, and his 'number two' from going to the Chamber's Interior Commission to discuss the dismissal of former Colonel Diego Pérez de los Cobos and They have replaced it with an appearance by the director of Civil Protection, Leonardo Marcos, to talk about the management of the 'Filomena' storm two and a half years later.

In statements to Europa Press, the PP spokesman on the Interior Commission, Fernando Martínez Maíllo, has described this fact as "surreal" and has not ruled out launching more parliamentary offensives in the Senate on the dismissal of Pérez de los Cobos.

As he has assured, the majority that the PSOE has in the Commission Table "has vetoed" the appearances of Marlaska and the Secretary of State for Security, Rafael Pérez, to give explanations about this dismissal after the Supreme Court ruling, as well as of the former director of the Civil Guard, María Gámez.

In this case, that of María Gámez, from the PP they remember that she no longer has an obligation to go to a parliamentary commission as she does not hold any public office, but they denounce the 'veto' to the appearances of Marlaska and her 'number two'.

And after almost six months without convening the Interior Commission, the PP has censured that the intention of the Table is an upcoming meeting after Easter for the director of Civil Protection to attend to talk about the storm 'Filomena', which occurred at beginning of the year 2021.

This request to appear was registered by the PP, although they believe that the intervention of this senior official to talk about Filomena is not now the most urgent, warning that there will be groups that do not even attend in protest.
