Pedri suffers an injury to the rectus femoris of the right thigh

MADRID, 16 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) -

FC Barcelona midfielder Pedri González will be out of the pitch for several weeks after suffering an anterior rectus injury during Thursday's Europa League match against English Manchester United.

The Canarian player had to retire injured in the final stretch of the first half and the first medical report offered by the club shortly after spoke of "an injury to the rectus femoris of the right thigh", an ailment that was confirmed this Friday.

"The tests carried out this Friday morning have confirmed that the first team player Pedri suffers an injury to the rectus femoris of the right thigh. It is low and his evolution will mark his availability", limited himself to saying FC Barcelona.

Now, the international could be out for several games with the Catalan team, which is facing an important calendar in these weeks with the return at Old Trafford of the 'playoff' for access to the Europa League round of 16 or the visit on March 2 to Santiago Bernabéu for the first leg of the 'Clásico' of the Copa del Rey semifinals.

In addition, the presence of Pedri could be doubtful for the first list of Luis de la Fuente as national coach for the first two matches of the qualifying phase for Euro 2024 against Norway and Scotland.
