On the bench since Monday the thieves accused of the crime of the former CEO of Barreras

The defendants caused the victim an overdose by the mixture of psychotropics and alcohol

MADRID, 24 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Starting next Monday, the Provincial Court of Madrid will try two accused of the strange death at dawn on October 29, 2021 of a businessman in the room of The Westin Palace Hotel in Madrid.

The victim was José Rosado, a 42-year-old man of Puerto Rican origin, former CEO of Hijos de J. Barreras, the largest private Spanish shipyard.

The corpse showed no signs of violence. There were no injuries, no bruises, and no signs of suffocation, so at first it might seem like a natural death, though the room was messy and a few things were missing.

However, the investigations carried out by the Homicide Group V of the Provincial Brigade of the Judicial Police revealed that the defendants caused the victim an overdose due to the mixture of psychotropic drugs and alcohol.

The prosecutor requests 17 years and six months in prison for M.V.P. and another 19 years and three months for M.C., for crimes of homicide, robbery with violence and fraud. Furthermore, in the case of M.C. He requests that in the sentence the prison sentence be replaced by his expulsion from the national territory due to the criminal record he accumulates.

As can be seen from the indictment, at dawn on October 29, 2021, J.I.R.G., a resident of Miami, was in Madrid having come to spend a few days on vacation. During the course of that early morning, the victim met the two defendants, both in an irregular situation in Spain, and around 5:00 a.m. they all went to the Westin Palace hotel, where J.I.R.G. was staying.

Once inside the room, the two defendants offered the victim a glass of wine "having previously introduced the narcotic substance called GHB into the bottle in doses much higher than those normally tolerated." As a consequence of this previous ingestion, J.I.R.G. died, "suffering respiratory depression secondary to lethal poisoning by Gamma hydroxybutyric acid, which caused cardiorespiratory arrest."

Subsequently, the defendants, "taking advantage of the fact that the victim had either died or was still unconscious," seized a mobile phone, a tablet, his watch, as well as several credit cards with which they made various payments. M. V. P. and M. C. remain in provisional detention for this cause since December 24, 2021 and, as civil liability, the Prosecutor's Office claims 150,000 euros from them.

The investigation began shortly after the hotel employees informed the agents of the event when alerted by colleagues of the businessman who could not locate him. Once the efforts to clarify the death began, together with the data obtained by the Scientific Police specialists, they allowed the agents to identify two men with whom he had been seen in the hotel establishment.

Specifically, a 29-year-old man and another 39-year-old man, whom the deceased had met at a party the night before in a nightclub in the Chueca neighborhood and who had taken him to his hotel room, room 541, to predictably have sex.

However, at one point, when he was in the bathroom, the contents of a vial of GHB, also known as liquid ecstasy, a strong immunosuppressant drug, was added to the glass.

Thus, shortly after taking the drink, he fainted. Toxicology analyzes found that there were large amounts of psychotropic substances in the victim's body that, combined with alcohol, caused pulmonary edema until her death.

When the victim lost consciousness, valuables were taken from him, as well as his credit card, a card that was later used in two establishments in the Madrid town of Móstoles.

This circumstance made it possible to tighten the siege on the alleged perpetrators of the crime, who were finally located and detained at their homes by the Police.

In the searches carried out, the agents intervened the clothes they were wearing at dawn on October 30, more than 2,500 euros in cash, mobile phones, tablets, jewelry, third-party documentation and other valuables that are being analyzed to see if they could be related. with this or other facts.
