Moreno plans to meet with Ribera at the end of the month and does not rule out the transfer of water such as that from Valencia to Catalonia

The president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, announced this Monday that his Government's idea is to meet with the third vice president, Teresa Ribera, at the end of February to address the drought situation, while at the same time he has not ruled out transfer of water to Andalusia like the one that will occur from Valencia to Catalonia.

This is how Moreno spoke in statements to journalists after participating in the Europa Press 'Generation of Opportunities' forum about the date for the meeting that his team will hold with Vice President Teresa Ribera.

As he explained, the objective of this meeting is "to work, collaborate together and mark which hydraulic works are needed in Andalusia and which are the responsibility of the Government and the Community and to set a schedule and try together to alleviate a situation that is going to be dramatic if it doesn't rain in the next week.

When asked if he is considering requesting the transfer of water like that of the Sagunto plant to Catalonia, Moreno indicated that his government has "all possibilities open right now", something that will be studied jointly with the central government.

"The Andalusians, like a part of the Spaniards, have a problem and when they have a problem what the administrations have to do is work together and cooperate. That is what I want. And of course what I do see clearly is that there is "a principle of solidarity is that a country is a country when there is a principle of interterritorial solidarity. If not, it is no longer a country, it will be something else," he maintained.

In this context, Moreno welcomes the fact that the Valencian Community provides water to Catalonia, just as Andalusia or the rest of the regions need it. "That is why I believe that we have to continue advancing in a Pact for water, so that we are clear about what need our country has and how we can meet it without selfishness, without particularities," he added.

However, Moreno has "welcomed" the Catalan president, Pere Aragonès, now asking for collaboration from the Government and the rest of the territories.

"In the end, what nationalists and independence supporters have to realize is that they have more instruments to provide services to their citizens and quality of citizen life when you live in a community, in a common and shared project such as Spain and in a common and shared project such as Europe," he noted.
