Bolaños assures that the resignation of the director of the Civil Guard was a "personal" decision so as not to affect the institution

MADRID, 23 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, will appear next Monday 27 in the Congress of Deputies to explain the resignation of the director of the Civil Guard, María Gámez, and also about the alleged involvement of members of the body in the called cases 'Cuarteles' and 'Mediador'.

This has been indicated by the Minister of the Presidency, Relations with the Courts and Democratic Memory, Félix Bolaños in an interview on TVE, collected by Europa Press, when asked if Marlaska should give explanations in Parliament for these three cases.

Bolaños has assured that the head of the Interior will provide all the information known to the Government while making it clear that they are going to facilitate any type of investigation into these events that "may affect some people" within the Civil Guard, as specified .

In addition, he has maintained that Gámez's resignation was a "personal decision" of the already former director of the Civil Guard, who in view of the circumstances that were happening with her husband decided to try not to affect her family and the institution. "That's why she decides to step aside," she said.

"Look where the ethical standard is" stressed the minister, who wanted to contrast the way in which the Government and the PSOE act when a possible case of corruption appears, to that of the PP. Thus, she has stressed that Gámez left the position when a case appeared that affects her husband while she has reproached the PP for the fact that the former Minister of the Interior Jorge Fernández Díaz continues to be a militant despite the fact that the Prosecutor's Office requests 15 years in prison for him for the 'Kitchen' case.
