Marc Márquez: "Our feelings are not the best despite being in the top three"

MADRID, 21 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Spanish rider Marc Márquez (Repsol Honda) has assured that his feelings "are not the best" despite the fact that he has managed to finish the first day of free practice for the Malaysian Grand Prix among the top three, and he believes that he has achieved it thanks to the use of the soft tire.

"Today I was able to finish in the top three and it is largely due to the strategy we used. I used the soft tire directly in FP1 because I know that being in the top ten from the start is very important here. But honestly, our feelings are not the best and there are still things to improve to feel more comfortable on the track," he said in statements provided by his team.

In addition, the one from Cervera considers that they have also taken "a step forward" in the evening round. "We've made a small step forward in FP2 on my second track start, so the aim is to continue like this tomorrow. Happy to be in the top three, but there's work to do," he stressed.

For his part, his teammate Pol Espargaró acknowledged that "he hadn't" had "a great day", in which he finished sixteenth and received a penalty for rejoining the track in an unsafe manner in an action with Johann Zarco (Ducati) during the first free. "We received a penalty in free practice 1 and it's a shame. I went to explain the situation to Race Direction, but despite that we still have it," he said.

"It's a shame because it adds an extra complication to the weekend. Anyway, we improved in the first free practices while a lot of people were on the soft tyre. Then in the afternoon we learned everything we could, but towards the At the end of the session the track was very hot and there wasn't much else to do," he concluded.
