The 2024 Copa del Rey basketball tournament will be held at the Martín Carpena Sports Palace in Málaga, from February 15 to 18, after the agreement reached between the acb, the Junta de Andalucía, the Diputación and the Málaga City Council, reports This Monday the employers' association of clubs in a statement.

The Copa del Rey will return to Andalusia in 2024 and will be played in Malaga, where Unicaja could defend the title won in the 2023 edition in Badalona.

Andalusia has recently hosted the editions of the Copa del Rey in Granada, in 2022, and Malaga, in 2020, as well as the Endesa Super Cup last year in Seville.

The Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport of the Junta de Andalucía, Arturo Bernal, has highlighted the "good harmony" with the acb, which has been demonstrated once again with the confirmation that Malaga will host the next Copa del Rey in 2024.

"The commitment from the Andalusian Government is twofold, on the one hand to attract large events to the community and on the other to serve as an incentive to disseminate and create sports practice habits among Andalusians," said Bernal, who thanked the Provincial Council for its collaboration. and the Malaga City Council.

"Málaga is a province that loves basketball and the Martín Carpena is the ideal place to host the next edition of the Copa del Rey, where Unicaja will have the honor of defending the title", pointed out the president of the Provincial Council, Francisco Salado.

In addition, Salado has ensured that the province fully identifies with the values ​​that basketball instills in young people, such as sportsmanship, teamwork, effort and competitiveness.

For his part, the mayor of Malaga, Francisco de la Torre, has recognized that holding the Cup in Malaga in 2024 will be an opportunity to enjoy the "best basketball" in Spain for fans throughout Andalusia, and especially those from Malaga, to which Unicaja has just given a "joy" for which all the people of Malaga feel "tremendously proud".
