Telefónica, Inditex, Santander, Iberdrola, Cellnex and Meliá complete the 'top ten'

MADRID, 1 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) -

La Caixa Foundation once again ranks first among the companies with the best corporate social responsibility (CSR), followed by El Corte Inglés, Caixabank, Mercadona and Telefónica in the 'Study of leading companies in CSR, ESG and sustainability in Spain' , prepared by Advice Strategic Consultants.

Inditex, Santander, Iberdrola, Cellnex and Meliá complete the 'top 10' of the large companies that stand out the most for their social commitment and that have the greatest leadership in this matter.

The report reflects that sustainability is currently positioned as an "essential" parameter to value companies, in the midst of the context of inflation and risk of an economic slowdown.

As explained by the managing partner of Advice Strategic Consultants, Jorge Díaz Cardiel, the society is recognizing and rewarding large companies that have helped in this period of crisis.

"The general population, SMEs and the self-employed arrive in mid-2023 with the feeling that a crisis is taking place that will not end. In this scenario, CSR, ESG and business sustainability are of the utmost importance for Spaniards, also for opinion leaders, in terms of what they expect from large Spanish companies", he pointed out.

The study also collects reputation data by sector. Thus, in the infrastructure business, ACS is at the forefront, while in the laboratory branch the leadership rests with Pfizer and Seat in the automotive sector.

La Caixa Foundation occupies first place in the ranking for having extensive social programs for job integration, the fight against poverty, or dedication to the elderly. In the words of Cardiel, Third Sector organizations such as the La Caixa Foundation are of "primordial" importance in the current economic context.

For its part, El Corte Inglés stands out for having a business model based on a series of ethical, sustainable and responsible principles towards the customer, employees, suppliers, shareholders, society and the environment.

"As a responsible and committed company, El Corte Inglés maintains a continuous progress towards the best practices in social, environmental and corporate governance matters", Cardiel comments.

Meanwhile, Caixabank is positioned as the first bank in the world for its sustainable and socially responsible banking model, as evidenced by the main CSR, ESG and sustainability measurement indices. CaixaBank recently presented its Strategic Plan for the next three years, where sustainability is one of its main axes to become a benchmark in this area.
