Israel bombs Lebanon in response to rockets fired from its territory

MADRID, 7 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) carried out airstrikes in southern Lebanon early Friday, after accusing the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), with a presence in the Gaza Strip, of being behind the launch of more than thirty rockets from southern Lebanon on Thursday.

According to an IDF statement, "the infrastructure of the terrorist organization Hamas" has been attacked, assuring that "they will not allow Hamas to operate from Lebanon."

In addition, they have been blunt regarding the country's authorities: "We consider the State of Lebanon responsible for all launches from its territory."

They have also confirmed that at this moment they are attacking the Gaza Strip, in the continuation of an exchange that began on Thursday afternoon between air strikes by the Israeli Army, which at the moment has destroyed several tunnels and weapons used by the Palestinians, and the rockets launched from the Strip, which so far have not caused material or personal damage.

Hours before Israel reported the attacks from Lebanon, the Lebanese Shiite militia party Hezbollah had denounced in a statement the assault carried out by Israeli security forces on Tuesday night at the Al Aqsa mosque, located in Jerusalem, when dozens of faithful were celebrating the month of Ramadan.
