Iglesias says that not achieving unity would be a "failure" of Díaz and of "everyone": "Without an agreement, people run to us with blows"

He underlines the "enormous pressure" for the vice president and "the one that comes upon her" after the demands made by Compromís

MADRID, 31 May. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Former Vice President Pablo Iglesias has stated that not getting a unity candidacy on the left would be a "failure" for the head of Labor, Yolanda Díaz, and the rest of the political formations. "If there is no agreement, people run us to blows."

It has also affected the responsibility and the "enormous pressure" that Díaz now has, as the leader of the progressive space, and "the one that is coming at him" after learning about the demands of Compromís to converge with Sumar.

In statements to TV3, collected by Europa Press, Iglesias reflected that "unity" to the left of the PSOE is "essential" and that "anything other than achieving it would be a failure for Díaz and his party (Sumar), and of all parties."

Of course, he has said that the approach of Compromís must "draw everyone's attention", which questioned that Podemos requested a negotiation with Sumar, and now demands precisely the same thing, that it has to "head" all the candidacies in the Community Valenciana and that "he does not agree to go with anyone from Podem (the Podemos brand in Valencia).

"There is a very complex situation in which it seems that, since there is no time for primaries, it is not going to be the citizen leadership that defines how an exciting political space is built, but we are already seeing how Compromís comes out. And logically the The rest of the parties are going to say, me too. If Compromís makes these demands, I want to too", Iglesias has deepened.

In his opinion, this situation should make us reflect, given the advance of the general elections, on "how important it would have been to have things ready and prepared before", in reference to the configuration of a broad left-wing front.

Now, according to his analysis, "everyone has to make an effort" for confluence because "there is no alternative", insisting that the pressure that Díaz must have now is not wished on anyone, because he has the mission of "putting according to many people" in a short period of time.

Finally, he remarked that in the 28M elections Podemos has suffered a "huge blow", with a weaker position but emphasizing that it is a state-wide party. At this point, he has ruled that IU is even more weakened and that the rest of the formations are of a regionalist nature with "satellites" in other points that do not obtain representation by themselves.
