Iberdrola brings together technology gurus at its Digital Summit to address advances in digital transformation

MADRID, 4 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Iberdrola celebrates next Wednesday, June 7, at its San Agustín de Guadalix campus (Madrid) the ninth edition of the Digital Summit, in which it will host great technological gurus from companies such as Amazon or Google to share trends and progress digital transformation among more than 1,500 group employees in Spain.

The president of the energy company, Ignacio Sánchez Galán, will be in charge of inaugurating the conference, which this year will be held under the slogan 'Digital Experience: Empowering People, Driving Change'.

Among the list of participants there will be leaders from different sectors and recognized experts in the digital world, in addition to Amazon or Google, such as the technology consultancies Capgemini and Accenture, the firm specialized in neurotechnology Bitbrain, the pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca, the automobile companies Ford and Seat, the manufacturer of electrical chargers Wallbox, in which Iberdrola itself participates, the management and technology consultancy Eraneos or the Nationale-Nederlanden insurance company, among others.

Over the course of five hours, the experts who will attend the event will talk about disruptive technologies, technological trends, new business models, methodologies and digital culture, among other issues.

Iberdrola is committed to digitization as a tool to be transmitted to all areas of the company, from the network business to the renewables business, from the commercial business to the Digital Transformation department or from people to marketing.

In addition, the CEO of Iberdrola Spain, Mario Ruiz-Tagle, will be the one who will delve into the importance of digitization for energy and will invite the group's businesses and corporate areas to share their main strategies and digital projects.

One of the topics of the day will also be digital intelligence, where the energy company leads the European project IA4TES (Artificial Intelligence for Sustainable Energy Transition), whose main objective is training and attracting talent, generating alliances and proof of concept of highly disruptive technologies within the field of AI in energy.

The Digital Summit is part of Iberdrola's commitment to Innovation, Development and Research (R D i). The company focuses its innovation projects on renewable energies, smart grids, digital transformation, green hydrogen and the development of customized solutions for our clients.

Iberdrola, which is the private 'utility' in the world that invests the most in I D i -according to data from the report 'The 2021 Industrial Investment Scoreboard' prepared by the European Commission-, has allocated 2,000 million euros in the last decade.

In 2021, the energy company invested 337.5 million in I D i, 15% more than in the previous year, and the number of innovation projects in progress amounts to 250. Its strategic plan until 2025 contemplates that the investment will rise that year to 420 million and reach 550 million annually in 2030.
