Eight out of ten expected a coalition government

MADRID, 3 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Half of Spaniards took it for granted during the electoral campaign that the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, was going to be the next president of the Government, according to a survey carried out by the Center for Sociological Research (CIS) in the days prior to the general elections on July 23.

This is a study based on 27,060 telephone interviews, double the 13,500 initially planned, which were carried out between July 13 and 22, including the last week of the campaign, when it is prohibited to disseminate surveys.

The results have been announced this Thursday and the conclusion is that the Spanish already assumed that Spain will once again have a coalition government, as 84.7% of those surveyed assured it, compared to 11.7% who thought in a monocolor Executive.

When asked about the next president of the Government, half (51.6%) were sure that it would be Alberto Núñez Feijóo's turn, compared to 31.7% who predicted the re-election of the socialist Pedro Sánchez.

Another thing is the preferences, and there those surveyed by the CIS continued to place Sánchez first, mentioned as the preferred president by 36% compared to 28.7% who cited Núñez Feijóo. Sumar leader Yolanda Díaz had more supporters (13.5%) than Vox president Santiago Abascal (7.3%).

Throughout the electoral campaign, including the day of reflection, the public demoscopic institute chaired by the socialist sociologist José Félix Tezaos CIS continued to ask those surveyed about their intention to vote.

And, as in the two CIS pre-election surveys, the PSOE was again in the lead with 28.3% support for 24.8% who announced their vote for the PP. In the general elections the result was the opposite: 33.05% for the PP and 31.70% for the PSOE.
