González Pons assures in Lithuania that the PP will not rest until it sees Putin and Lukashenko in jail

MADRID, 9 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Deputy Secretary of Institutional Affairs of the PP, Esteban González Pons, assured that Saturday in Vilnius (Lithuania) that his party will not rest until it sees the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, and his "puppet", the Belarusian president, Aleksandr Lukashenko, in jail.

This is what González Pons expressed during his participation in the 30th Anniversary of the Lithuanian Christian Democratic Union, organized by the European Law Institute, as reported by his party through a press release.

The 'popular' leader has shown his support for the Lithuanian people in the face of the attack on their borders by the Lukashenko regime: "You are not alone. The Lithuanian borders are Spanish, Italian, German, French borders. Lithuania's borders are those of Europe," he stressed.

González Pons has highlighted that all attempts by Putin and his allies to separate Europe are doomed to failure. "We will protect our borders, our territorial integrity, our sovereignty, our freedoms and our way of life", he has guaranteed.

The PP MEP until a few months ago has highlighted the similarities between the Lithuanian Christian Democratic Union and the Spanish party, in his opinion, two reformist, humanist, pro-European formations, which helped build and consolidate the democratic regimes of their countries and who fight from the rule of law and freedom.

In this context, he has referred to Lukashenko as Putin's "puppet", stressed that the Kremlin rigged the 2020 Belarusian elections, and denounced the "persecution, torture and murder" of the Lukashenko regime. He has also described as "cruel and inhuman" the exploitation of migrants as weapons of war.

"The real enemy is sitting in the Kremlin, but that is not his place. His place is awaiting a prison sentence before an International Court. That is where Putin and Lukashenko belong and we will not rest until we see them behind bars. We will not give up because We are better than them and because we are on the right side of history," said González Pons.
