The PP wants to boast in the campaign of a "united" PP in the face of the "scared" socialist 'barons' in the acts with Sánchez

MADRID, 1 May. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The national leadership of the PP has managed to involve the entire party and unite the 'two souls' of the formation in the campaign of the municipal and regional ones, which they see as the "first stage" to evict Pedro Sánchez from the Moncloa Palace . Thus, the former presidents José María Aznar and Mariano Rajoy will have an active role, but the former spokesperson of the Popular Group, Cayetana Álvarez de Toledo, will also participate. In addition, this week the former vice president Soraya Sáenz de Santamaría has reappeared to support the PP candidate in Valladolid, Jesús Julio Carnero.

The leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, already managed to stage that unity of the party in the Intermunicipal meeting in February that was held in Valencia, where he brought together Aznar and Rajoy, who had been estranged for years, on the same stage. There they signed peace and made themselves available to Feijóo because, according to their agreement, it is necessary to "change the course of Spain."

"In the PP we are all united and now it is time for the next step, which is to unite our country," Feijóo proclaimed in that conclave, who these months has boasted of that internal unity, which he sees as key to winning on May 28 and, later , take the leap to the Moncloa Palace.

In fact, 'Génova' wants to boast of a "united" PP in the campaign against the "scared" socialist 'barons' in the acts with Pedro Sánchez as, in his opinion, was visualized two weeks ago at the municipal convention that the PSOE also organized in the capital of Turia.

"We have internal unity and peace," sources from Feijóo's team highlight, where they allude to the internal battles and cross reproaches faced by the leaders of their rival parties, as has happened these weeks "with Macarena Olona, Begoña Villacís or Alfonso Guerra", as they add from the leadership of the PP.

While waiting to definitively close the rallies, the former presidents of the Government will visit several communities. For now, they already have events scheduled in Madrid to support Isabel Díaz Ayuso, in Castilla-La Mancha to support Paco Núñez, in Murcia to support Fernando López Miras, and in the Valencian Community, where Carlos Mazón aspires to unseat the Socialist Ximo Puig.

Thus, PP sources have indicated to Europa Press that Rajoy plans to travel to Albacete on May 2, where he will also visit the towns of Caudete and Almansa; On May 8 he will go to Castellón and will also share an act with Ayuso in Madrid. These weeks, he has already had events with PP candidates in Los Llanos de Aridane (La Palma), Torrent (Valencia) or Telde (Gran Canaria), where Sergio Ramos aspires to mayor, who was one of his collaborators when he was a tenant from La Moncloa.

Aznar will also have an intense schedule in the 28M campaign. On May 5 he will be in Torre Pacheco (Murcia), on May 19 he will visit Cuenca, and he also plans to wrap up Ayuso in Madrid. A couple of weeks ago he also participated in the presentation of the PP candidate for mayor of the Madrid municipality of Villaviciosa de Odón, Juan Pedro Izquierdo.

Álvarez de Toledo, national deputy for Barcelona and who closes the PP list in El Prat de Llobregat, will also be involved in the campaign with events, not only in Catalonia but also in Madrid and Navarra, as 'popular' sources have confirmed to Europa Press .

For example, the former PP parliamentary spokesperson will travel to Pamplona next Tuesday to support Carlos Adanero, candidate for mayor of the city and whom she has praised on several occasions. "Navarre and Spain need politicians like Sayas and Adanero," she said recently, assuring that both are "damaging in defense of Navarre autonomy and the unity of Spain."

In Feijóo's team they consider that Álvarez de Toledo is an "asset" and they want to count on her in electoral acts. In the leadership of the PP they are aware that he helps the party to retain the most traditional voter and avoid leaks to Vox.

Navarra is precisely one of the territories that is receiving a landing of members of the leadership of the PP to support Javier García, who is making his debut in these elections after the break with the Unión del Pueblo Navarro (UPN). The PP has presented 49 lists for the 28M compared to the 32 it presented in 2015. Four years ago, the 'popular' concurred on the 'Navarra Suma' platform together with Cs and UPN.

Former Vice President Soraya Sáenzs de Santamaría, away from political news since she lost the primaries in July 2018 against Pablo Casado, has reappeared this week to support the PP candidate for Mayor of Valladolid, Jesús Julio Carnero, who has thanked the support of a person who "gave everything for Spain at a difficult" and "difficult" moment.

In the video, which the candidate has uploaded to his Twitter account, Santamaría confesses that it is also "satisfying" for her to show a "little bit of pride" and "homeland" for those who are from Valladolid, and in the "way of to be", "to work" and "to lead" of the people of Valladolid.

"I came to a political leadership conference and I wondered one thing: why have they called me if they have José Julio here in Valladolid. But hey, the second-in-comers can sometimes cover that space as well," said Sáenz de Santamaría , who joined the Cuatrecasas office after leaving politics and is part of the Council of State.
