Garzón justifies that Díaz does not clarify whether he will support UP or Más Madrid because his challenge is unity: "He is above this"

He also supports the opinion of the vice president on Morocco and is convinced that Sumar and Podemos will agree for the general elections

MADRID, 19 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The federal coordinator of the IU, Alberto Garzón, has justified that the second vice president, Yolanda Díaz, does not clarify whether she will support the candidacy of Unidas Podemos or Más Madrid in the 28M elections in this region, given that her objective is the unity of the left after this election date.

"I understand that Yolanda Díaz has to be above these decisions in the short term, in these elections (28M) where unfortunately unity has not been achieved in some places", she has moved in the corridors of Congress, asked if she would understand that Díaz could end up supporting the leader of Más Madrid, Mónica García, after not defining her vote in a recent interview.

And it is that Garzón has reflected that Díaz does not intend to be the candidate only for United We Can in the face of the generals, but the "candidate of many more people." In this way, he has affirmed that Díaz's task will be to "sew" alliances the day after 28M so that later there can be a broad confluence to the left of the PSOE.

Precisely yesterday Garzón, the 'comunes' and Galicia en Común emphasized their support for the United Podemos candidate for the Community of Madrid, Alejandra Jacinto, given the lack of definition of Díaz. The also Minister of Consumption praised that Jacinto is running a wonderful campaign and highlighted her "impeccable" trajectory as an activist.

Regarding the interview of Sumar's candidate last Sunday on La Sexta, where he reproached Podemos to talk about the "clean cake" unit, the IU leader has simply indicated that everyone could see and that his project was clear.

Therefore, he has urged to focus on talking about politics and is convinced that Sumar and Podemos will reach an agreement to come together in the general elections, since he does not conceive of any other possibility. He also has seen "worse situations in the past with other actors where the situation has been tense" and in the end a solution was found.

"At least from the United Left we are working for it and I am confident that we will finally all go together in a candidacy for the general elections," added Garzón.

He has also indicated that he feels identified with the words of the second vice president about Morocco, after saying that it was a dictatorship, and with the position of the head of Equality, Irene Montero, when criticizing the agreement between PSOE and PP for the reform of the Law of 'only yes is yes'.
