Garzón (IU) demands formulas so that all the forces of the left are in Sumar "in the most comfortable way"

ZARAGOZA, 22 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The federal coordinator of the United Left (IU), Alberto Garzón, has called for arbitrating formulas so that all the forces to the left of the Socialist Party meet in Sumar "in the most comfortable way possible" to get the leader of this movement, Yolanda Díaz, presides over the Government of Spain.

This was stated by the political leader in statements to the media this Saturday in Zaragoza, during his participation in an event organized by IU Aragón.

Garzón has pointed out that after May 28, the date on which the municipal and regional elections will be held, "hopefully all of us on the left will be responsible to understand that we must support Sumar's project." For this reason, he has insisted on the need for formulas to exist so that all the forces to the left of the PSOE form part of the movement led by Yolanda Díaz "in the most comfortable way possible."

In this regard, he has warned: "We cannot allow reactionary forces to have even the slightest chance of governing our country for all that this would mean on a political level." Thus he has influenced that Sumar stands as a meeting point in which to work to "make possible the meeting between all".

Likewise, given the need for agreements on the part of Sumar such as the one expected with Podemos, Garzón has asked "not to worry about the deadlines", because what he occupies now are the regional and municipal elections. He has noted that IU's "political will" is "to work to get everyone to meet in Sumar and there are reasons to be optimistic."

Facing the electoral appointment of May 28 in the Autonomous Community of Aragon, Alberto Garzón has assured that IU "provides the background and experience and the program, program, program", subscribing to the words of the former leader, Julio Anguita.

"We are a responsible and serious political force," he remarked, adding that in some territories unity has been achieved, "but in any of the IU people do everything possible to improve the lives of working families, as in Aragon."

Regarding the possible agreements, he stressed that the regional and municipal elections "have their own peculiarities" and they will talk about it after the citizens choose their political representatives at the polls.
