Garbiñe Muguruza leaves the 'Top 100' of the ranking 10 years later

BARCELONA, 27 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Spanish tennis player Garbiñe Muguruza fell this Monday to number 127 in the WTA world ranking, with 40 places lost, and continues her free fall coinciding with a sports break that made her out of the 'Top 100' for the first time in recent ten years, while Paula Badosa loses three places and is now number 22 in the world.

Garbiñe Muguruza did not compete in Dubai and will not be in the WTA1000 tournaments in Indian Wells or Miami either, in a break to recover a level that is causing her ranking to drop to the well that goes beyond the 100 best tennis players.

Right now, the Spanish-Venezuelan is number 127, after losing 40 positions this week. Since January 14, 2013, when she was number 112 in the world, the one that came to lead the WTA ranking in September 2017, she was not out of the 'Top 100' positions.

For her part, the Catalan Paula Badosa, who lost in her first match at the WTA1000 tournament in Dubai, falls three positions in the ranking and continues her decline, to the current 22nd position. The one from Begur became number 2 in the world in April 2022, not even a year ago.

Between Badosa, who continues to be the best Spanish, and Muguruza, Nuria Párrizas (number 78 in the world after gaining 1 place), Sara Sorribes (85, loses 8 places), Cristina Bucsa (86), Rebeka Masarova (90 , gains 3 positions) and Marina Bassols (124, gains 2 positions).
