Filippo Ganna wins again the Tirreno-Adriatico prologue

BARCELONA, 6 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Italian cyclist Filippo Ganna (INEOS Grenadiers) is the first leader of the Tirreno-Adriatico after winning this Monday the initial time trial of the prologue in Lido di Camaiore, on an 11.5-kilometre circuit, and thus repeats his victory last year in this race of the two seas.

Ganna, one of the best time trial specialists at the moment, stopped the clock in 12:28 minutes and, with an average speed of 55.348 km/h, was 28 seconds ahead of a Lennard Kämna (BORA-hansgrohe) who was provisional leader until the arrival of the Italian.

An 'almost, but not' from the manual since Ganna was one of the last cyclists to start. So Kämna gave up the 'throne' at the last moment. But Ganna, in the 23rd win of his career, did not cause an upset.

The man from Verbania was already the first to take the 'trident' of the Tirreno in 2022 and in this 58th edition he repeated his victory in the prologue, and will once again be the first leader of the race.

Behind Ganna and Kämna, third place was Magnus Sheffield (INEOS Grenadiers) 31 seconds behind the winner, with Michael Hepburn (Team Jayco AlUla) fourth 33 seconds behind and Brandon McNulty (UAE Team Emirates) fifth 34 seconds behind. The best Spaniard was Enric Mas (Movistar Team), 23rd, 1:00 behind Ganna.
