Feijóo signs Toni Nadal, the tennis player's uncle, and the journalist Pilar García de la Granja for the new PP foundation

The PP will announce in the next few days the rest of the members of the foundation, which will be directed by the former president of Renfe

MADRID, 13 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, has signed coach Toni Nadal, current technical sports director of the 'Rafa Nadal Academy', and the journalist and president of the Querer Foundation, Pilar García de la Granja, for the new Popular Party foundation , as announced by the formation.

This foundation, which will be directed by the former president of Renfe and former executive director of the Fundación de Estudios de Economía Aplicada (FEDEA), Pablo Vázquez, aims to attract talent and experience with the aim of giving "added value to politics in general and to the PP in particular".

Feijóo commissioned the economist Pablo Vázquez in February to design the Fundación Concordia y Libertad after the departure of deputy Adolfo Suárez Illana, who resigned his seat in Congress and his position in the foundation to resume his "professional and family obligations".

Feijóo himself announced this Monday before the Executive Committee of the PP that this week he would give a boost to the foundation of the party, which will be built "not with affiliations but with ideas" and that it will be made up of people "whose sole objective is to work for the country" and "contribute their knowledge and experience to Spain.

"We are going to make a foundation built by people and by projects, building it according to solvent, professional and prepared teams, regardless of whether or not they are active in the PP", he said, adding that "most of them are not active in the People's Party".

Feijóo has indicated that this foundation - in which they have been working for almost a year - will be in charge of giving "response to the contributions that civil society is sending them" and that the people who integrate it will continue "serving Spain". The PP has advanced that in the next few days the other members of this foundation will be announced, which plans to hold its first meeting shortly.

Of Toni Nadal, the president of the PP especially values his extensive experience in sports management and his firm defense of the values of effort and capacity, as he has shown throughout his successful professional career, according to the PP in a statement.

As for Pilar García de la Granja, Feijóo believes that her contribution will be key due to her knowledge of the so-called Third Sector. The new incorporations will contribute with her ideas to generate a solid alternative to the Government of Pedro Sánchez.

Toni Nadal, tennis coach, began his career at the Manacor tennis club, of which he became director. He has worked for 27 years with Rafa Nadal and is currently the Sports Technical Director of the 'Rafa Nadal Academy'.

In his professional career, Toni Nadal has always considered that in the training of any athlete it is essential to work on three aspects: technical work, character formation and values training. According to the PP, this last area is of special relevance for Feijóo.

The 'popular' have recalled that as a coach, Toni Nadal has reaped together with Rafa Nadal the most successful record in the history of the international tennis circuit: 74 tournaments in total, of which 16 have been Grand Slam (10 Roland Garros, three US Open, two Wimbledon and one Australian Open), in addition to having accompanied his nephew in his Olympic successes (champion in the singles modality in Beijing 2008 and in Rio de Janeiro in 2016).

For its part, the PP recalled that Pilar García de la Granja has a degree in Information Sciences from the Complutense University of Madrid and studied International Relations at Columbia University in New York. In addition, she has a trajectory of more than 20 years in the world of communication. In 1997 she signed for Televisa to direct the CNBC economic news in Spanish where she was a New York correspondent.

Likewise, he has been responsible for Economía on Onda Cero, has directed the news programs for Intereconomía Televisión and collaborates with various media. She is also president of the Querer Foundation, a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote the creation of multidisciplinary working groups that have the capacity to diagnose and investigate language-related neurological disorders, as recalled by the PP.
