Feijóo accuses Sánchez of placing himself "outside constitutionalism" by ending 2023 "toasting Bildu" in Pamplona

"Spain does not win a progressive mayor's office, it wins a reactionary mayor's office and loses a state party," he proclaims.

MADRID, 28 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, has accused this Thursday the head of the Executive, Pedro Sánchez, of ending 2023 "toasting Bildu" after the pact with that party to snatch the Mayor's Office from the Navarro People's Union (UPN). What's more, he has pointed out that he has taken the PSOE "out of constitutionalism", causing Spain to lose "a state party."

This is how he spoke at an appearance in a Madrid hotel in Plaza de España to take stock of the year - under the slogan 'A Spain without walls' -, coinciding with the extraordinary plenary session that is being held in Pamplona with the debate of a motion of censorship that the Mayor's Office will give to Bildu.

Feijóo has framed this step in Pamplona in the "ethical crisis that the Government has inaugurated in 2023 with greater intensity", since, as he said, the President of the Government has "crossed all lines", being that of Pamplona " especially unworthy" for the democratic history of Spain and for those who "lost their lives fighting for freedoms",

The head of the opposition has indicated that it is also true for the history of the PSOE itself because that motion of censure in Pamplona that the Mayor's Office grants to Arnaldo Otegi's party is "the last line that not even the Spaniards most opposed to Mr. Sánchez" could think it was going to happen.

After expressing his support and solidarity to the until now councilor of Pamplona, Cristina Ibarrola (UPN) and her government team, Feijóo has stressed that this motion "has nothing to do with an excuse or a change of opinion" but is "the hooded pact of Otegi and Sánchez".

"This is one of the issues about which they lied to us, deceived us and hid from us to reach the Presidency of the Government. Let no one be fooled, today Spain does not win against a progressive mayor, today Spain wins against a reactionary mayor", he said. proclaimed.

What's more, the president of the PP has pointed out that, with this pact with Bildu, Spain "loses a state party." In his opinion, Sánchez has taken the PSOE "out of constitutionalism, out of common sense and dignity."

"Sánchez has chosen to end the year toasting with Bildu. We have chosen to end the year thanking the Spanish people for their trust and making ourselves available to all Spaniards, regardless of what they voted, to defend their rights, their freedoms, their coexistence and harmony of Spanish society in the year 2024", he highlighted.

In his assessment, Feijóo stated that it is "difficult to summarize a year in which all limits have been exceeded", choosing a headline for each of the months of the year that, in his opinion, would serve as a chronicle of 2023.

"Any month this year would serve to bring down any European Government," he asserted, after describing Sánchez's actions in the twelve months of this year and accusing him of "lying to all Spaniards."

In fact, he has pointed out that in the month of March, Sánchez "agreed with Bildu to withdraw the Navarra Civil Traffic Guard after the pact with Otegi" and in the month of June "he lied to the Spaniards, presuming that he would let UPN govern, winner of the elections, in Pamplona".

The president of the PP has pointed out that this is the "weakest government, with the least word and with the least ethical credit in democratic history" after having caused three crises: the economic, the institutional and the ethical.

Faced with Sánchez's management, Feijóo has offered the "alternative" of the PP as the "largest, most ambitious and loyal project to the Spanish people", with which he aspires to "govern for all and tell the truth", in the face of the "trenches". " and the "walls" of Sánchez. "I have chosen to comply with the Spanish. I stay with the principles", he concluded.
