FC Barcelona made official this Tuesday the agreement with the Turkish construction company Limak, which will carry out the remodeling works of the new Spotify Camp Nou and which is the definitive step after the award and approval by the Blaugrana Board of Directors to said agreement.
Before a notary, the Blaugrana club formalized the agreement with Limak, the Turkish company in charge of remodeling the Spotify Camp Nou, whose works are scheduled to begin next June as soon as the season ends for the first team.
The official signing took place at La Llotja Josep Sunyol, in an act that was attended by the president of FC Barcelona, Joan Laporta, and the president of Limak Holdings, Nihat Özdemir, together with the member of the Board of Limak Yatirim, Haldun Firat Kokturk.
Laporta was accompanied by other members of the club's Board of Directors, and the ceremony was attended by the Turkish Ambassador to Spain, Burak Akçapar, and the Turkish Consul General in Barcelona, Selen Evcit.
"In this way, and with the formalization of the agreement, the awarding of these works is confirmed, which represent a firm step for the entity in the consolidation of a fundamental project in the future of the club," the club assessed in a statement.
For Laporta, the new stadium will be the "jewel in the crown" of the 'Espai Barça'. "The new Spotify Camp Nou is the legacy that we will leave to our sons and daughters, our Barcelona grandsons and granddaughters. The construction project for the new field involves great professional responsibility on both sides, the club and Limak, which we assume with the maximum guarantees of success to return in November 2024," said the president.
For Nihat Özdemir, president of Limak Holdings, the firm has a "much deeper" meaning and responsibility than renovating a stadium. "Because the future Spotify Camp Nou is not only important for FC Barcelona and its fans, but also for the city of Barcelona and for Catalonia," he said.
"With the award of the renovation works of the future Spotify Camp Nou after a competitive tender, this project shows how we can broaden our vision and horizon in Limak, feeling proud and excited. It is a motivation for us to complete an installation that all Barcelonans they will embrace with pride," he predicted.
