Dia increases its net sales by 3% until September, with an increase of 3.4% in Spain despite reducing stores

MADRID, 25 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Dia increased its net sales by 3% during the first nine months of this year compared to the same period of the previous year, to 4,641.6 million euros, excluding the sale of stores due to the transfer of establishments to Alcampo in Spain, the sale of the Clarel and Dia Portugal business, as reported this Wednesday by the supermarket chain to the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV).

In Spain, Dia recorded a growth of 3.4% in its net sales in the first nine months of the year, up to 3,379.9 million euros, despite the fact that the store network has been reduced by 9.3% compared to the same period in 2022.

Dia Portugal, for its part, recorded a 3.5% increase in its net sales until September, up to 458 million euros, with a reduction in the store network of 2.1%, while net sales in Argentina They decreased by 4.2% between January and September, to 1,078.4 million euros.

In the third quarter of the year, Dia's net sales decreased by 3.7%, to 1,626.6 million euros, due to the impact of the devaluation of the peso in Argentina, "partially offset by the solid performance of Spain," the group has detailed.

The global CEO of the Dia group, Martín Tolcachir, has highlighted that the business in Spain "is advancing at a good pace, consolidating the fruits of the new value proposition and growing positively in gross, net and comparable sales."

Likewise, he added that the strength of the Spanish market has made it possible to offset part of the negative impact of the Argentine currency, whose operational performance is "very positive" in a complex macroeconomic context.
