Díaz: "The unemployment data for January show us that we are on the right track"

MADRID, 2 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The second vice president of the Government and Minister of Labor and Social Economy, Yolanda Díaz, stated this Friday that the unemployment and hiring data published this Friday are "positive" and demonstrate that the Government's policies "work."

"The unemployment data for the month of January show us that we are on the right track," remarked the Minister of Labor, who specified that in January it was possible to "stop" the average increase in unemployment of 90,000 people in the historical series. until reaching the lowest number of unemployed "in the last 16 years."

"There are those who said that our work at the head of the Ministry would destroy jobs. Not only were they wrong, but we have shown that the labor market can be improved by expanding rights," Díaz stressed on his social networks.

The vice president has also highlighted that "for the first time in history there are almost 10 million women working" and that young people, "another population group that has been suffering terrible working conditions and difficulties in accessing the labor market", have registered in January its lowest number of unemployed "since there are records."

Likewise, he stated that the "challenge" of employment stability is being achieved "month after month." "Currently, permanent employment is around 42%. The private temporary employment rate is similar to the European average and more than two million permanent jobs have been created in two years," he noted.

In any case, despite these positive data, Díaz has assured that the Government "is not satisfied" and that it will continue working "as long as there is a member of a family unemployed" and "as long as rights are not guaranteed." "Let's go for more," he concluded.
