Chivite defends a government of "progress" against the "involution of the right"

PAMPLONA, 14 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The PSN candidate for the Presidency of the Government of Navarra, María Chivite, defended this Monday at the beginning of the debate on her investiture the constitution of a Government of "progress" in Navarra in the face of a context of "involution that comes from formations of right-wingers who are already acting with rights cuts".

Chivite has indicated before the plenary session of Parliament that he is going to the investiture with a program agreement signed between PSN, Geroa Bai and Contigo-Zurekin and has thanked these groups "for the work, arduous and complicated, but, as they say , All's well That ends well".

The Socialist candidate has indicated that "this agreement is based on a commitment to the citizens who, in the last elections on May 28, supported a parliamentary majority to be represented by progressive formations." "With that pronouncement, and being the candidate of the most voted progressive formation, I promised to work to build a new government of progress for this community. And I also promised to present myself to an investiture process, both commitments that I fulfill today by bringing this Chamber both the agreement and my candidacy for the Presidency. I keep the word given and assuming the word that the citizens expressed at the polls," he said.

In addition, before going on to explain the programmatic lines and axes of the Government agreement, Chivite has indicated that the current context is one of "democratic emergency due to the threat of involution coming from right-wing formations that are already acting with cuts in rights and carrying out to public policies the denialism of gender violence, climate change and diversity, to name just a few examples".

According to Chivite, "the citizens are launching, in the last electoral processes that we have had, a clear message that is pre-political, and of which all formations with institutional representation should take good note." "The majority of the citizens have voted for coexistence. They have voted respect and integration of plurality and diversity. They have voted to advance. They have voted yes to rights, not to setbacks. They have voted for a foral Navarra within a Spain that advances in the framework of the autonomies that the Constitution itself contemplates", he assured.

The candidate has defended that "advancing in a decentralized State model, in effective models of co-governance, is a necessity that the citizens have expressed so that this country project can continue without territorial tensions or threats to common coexistence".

María Chivite arrives at the investiture debate with the support of PSN, Geroa Bai and Contigo-Zurekin, which add up to 21 of the fifty seats in the Parliament of Navarra, therefore without an absolute majority. However, EH Bildu has decided to abstain to facilitate his investiture.

In the first vote of the investiture, set for this Monday afternoon, an absolute majority is required, so Chivite will have to wait until Tuesday afternoon for the second vote, in which a simple majority is sufficient, to be invested.
