Aragonès replies to the ANC that a DUI without international recognition "would be of no use"

BARCELONA, 12 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The president of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonès, replied this Tuesday to the Catalan National Assembly (ANC) that a Unilateral Declaration of Independence (DUI) "would be of no use now" if it is not accompanied by international recognition.

"It is not a question of proclaiming it and that's it," he said in an interview with Catalunya Ràdio collected by Europa Press, after the president of the ANC, Dolors Feliu, asked ERC and Junts to negotiate the recognition of the result for the investiture. of 1-O by the State.

Aragonès has also responded to Feliu's request to the Government that they either declare independence or call elections: "Well, independence, which is what we are working for. But independence is not achieved just by wanting it very much."

In that sense, he has maintained that precisely in 2017 with 1-O the limitations of a unilateral declaration were "visualized", while now he believes that there is an opportunity to negotiate with the Government.

Regarding the entity's proposal to promote a civic list, he assured that any citizen is free to stand for election, although he warned: "I don't know if what is best for the independence movement is to increase the number of candidates."
