An explosion kills a well-known Russian military journalist in St. Petersburg

The Russian journalist Vladlen Tatarski, known for his specialization in military issues, has died this Sunday after an explosion occurred in a cafeteria in Saint Petersburg. Another 16 people have been injured.

The Russian Interior Ministry has confirmed the death of Tataski after a deflagration occurred in a cafeteria on the promenade of the University of Saint Petersburg, reports the Russian news agency Interfax.

"The Vasileostrovski district police have received information about an explosion that occurred at House 25 on Paseo de la Universidad. One person, the war correspondent Vladlen Tatarski, has died as a consequence. Another 16 people have been injured and are receiving medical attention." , explained the Ministry in a press release from the section for the St. Petersburg and Leningrad region.

Russian media have published that a woman carried the bomb to the place where Tatarski was, who was starring in a meeting with the public.

Security forces are already at the scene investigating what happened. The videos broadcast on social networks show several people in front of the cafeteria's facade and significant material damage.
