Alexia Putellas, Jenni Hermoso or the Pou brothers receive the qualification of high-level athletes

MADRID, 12 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Commission for the Evaluation of High-Level Sport has approved, "with exceptional character", the qualification of the soccer players Alexia Putellas and Jenni Hermoso, the mountaineers Marc Antoni Toralles, Bru Busom, Silvia Vidal and Eneko and Iker Pou and the athletes Florencio Gascón and Sergio Moliner as high-level athletes, the Superior Sports Council (CSD) reported this Monday.

In its first meeting after seven years, the High-Level Sports Evaluation Commission, chaired by the president of the CSD, José Manuel Franco, has "positively" assessed the "advances" contemplated in the new Royal Decree for high-level athletes , whose approval is scheduled for the first half of 2023.

"With this new Royal Decree, we will further facilitate the technical preparation of high-level athletes and their full integration into the educational system and into social and work life, both during sports practice and after it. It is a body key to advancing in the development of high-level sport, which will have the approval of a new Royal Decree as its main milestone in 2023," Franco said.

In this new Royal Decree, the figure of the technician or coach and the high-level judge or referee is created, the DAN condition for pregnant women is extended and interrupted during periods of injury or illness, in addition to defining the support unit for athletes of high level and PROAD, among others. Social Security financing for athletes is also incorporated into the standard. The Royal Decree project has been submitted to the public consultation process prior to the drafting of the text, which is currently in the period of technical corrections.

In addition, the Commission has approved the qualification of the soccer players Alexia Putellas and Jenni Hermoso, of the mountaineers Eneko Pou, Iker Pou, Marc Antoni Toralles, Bru Busom and Silvia Vidal and of the athletes Florencio Gascón and Sergio Moliner as high-level athletes, at the request of their respective sports federations and taking into account the exceptionality contained in the current Royal Decree 971/2007.

During the meeting held this Monday at the headquarters of the Higher Sports Council (CSD), the Secretary of State for Sport stressed the importance of the High Level Sports Evaluation Commission, which will meet at least once a semester at major sports institutions. "This collaboration is necessary and essential. We are united by the noble objective of working to improve high-level Spanish sport, as a great ambassador of the virtues of our country", he pointed out.

Royal Decree 971/2007, of July 13, on high-level and high-performance athletes, creates two collegiate bodies for its effective application, the DAN Evaluation Commission and the Technical Monitoring Subcommittee. The presidency corresponds to the president of the CSD and in it are represented the Spanish sports federations, the Spanish Olympic Committee (COE), the Spanish Paralympic Committee (CPE), the Autonomous Communities, public universities, the association of local entities, sports Olympic, non-Olympic and Paralympic sports and a person of recognized prestige in the field of high-level sports -for being awarded the Grand Cross of Sports Merit-, as well as the Higher Sports Council itself.

The Commission generally deals with exceptional cases that must be approved by consensus of the members. The Subcommittee, internal to the CSD, is in charge of the ordinary procedure for approving the lists of high-level athletes.
