Abascal demands "explanations" from the PP for not supporting them for the Congress Table and does not clarify if it will affect Feijóo

"The PP has not breached an agreement, but it has acted with an evident lack of generosity", they complain

MADRID, 17 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The leader of Vox, Santiago Abascal, has asked the PP for "explanations and answers" given its lack of support to give them entry to the Congress Table, but has avoided clarifying how what happened in the constitutive session affects the announced support of his party for an investiture by Alberto Núñez Feijóo.

Vox had demanded support for the PP to win a Vice Presidency of Congress, as it already had in the last legislature, but finally the PP declined to cede its votes. For this reason, those of Vox chose to vote for their own candidate, Ignacio Gil Lázaro, who has been left out of the Table.

In statements to the media after the constitutive session of the XV Legislature, Abascal has repeatedly lamented the lack of "generosity" shown, in his opinion, by the PP, contrasting its role, that of "a political force that is and that he has acted in a patriotic manner".

The Vox leader recalled that his formation already offered Núñez Feijóo his support "to avoid a government of destruction" and to "recover democratic normality and the neutrality of the institutions", but, as he has denounced, leaving out the governing body from the Lower House "to the third political force is not precisely to recover" the aforementioned aspects. "We are somewhat perplexed," he added.

For this reason, he has gone on to demand "explanations and answers" from those of Núñez Feijóo, although he has avoided clarifying whether the 'popular' candidate can still count on the votes of the 33 Vox deputies in the event that he appears for an investiture.

"He has not breached an agreement, he has acted with a lack of generosity. No dialogue or negotiation has been suspended, but he has acted with an evident lack of generosity," he stressed. What he has reiterated is that the votes of his party must serve to "avoid a government of national destruction", but he has not given any further details.

In parallel, the Vox leader has assured that, if there is a division between the block on the right, this "has not been caused by Vox." "Vox has shown generosity, there is no division between two political forces that are not capable of agreeing, there is a political force that offers its 33 votes in exchange for nothing with the only demand to recover that neutrality of the institutions, that normality democracy and avoid a government of national destruction", he explained, alluding to his statement of August 6.

At the press conference, Abascal also regretted that the PSOE had reached an agreement with Junts so that the Congress Table would be chaired by Armengol. In this context, he has denounced that the body has reached an agreement "with a fugitive from Justice (alluding to Carles Puigdemont)" and has predicted that the self-determination referendum "is going to be one of the concessions".

"This points to the fact that the 2017 Catalan separatist coup d'état is going to be perpetrated now, if Pedro Sánchez is elected (as president of the government), from the Moncloa Palace," he stressed.
