Zelensky announces that six million Ukrainians have regained electricity after the latest Russian attacks

MADRID, 18 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelensky announced on Saturday that almost six million people have recovered power supply after the latest Russian attacks on Ukraine's critical infrastructure.

"During the day it has been possible to restore electricity supply to almost six million Ukrainians. Repair work continues now and has not stopped since yesterday's terrorist attack," the Ukrainian president asserted, referring to a missile attack perpetrated in kyiv and other regions of the country.

Zelenski has confessed that "there is still a lot of work to be done" for the electrical system to be stabilized throughout the country, admitting that problems with the heating and water supply continue.

Specifically, the "most difficult" situation occurs in kyiv, Lviv, Vinnytsia and their respective regions, as detailed by the Ukrainian president in his daily message to the country's population.

"Unfortunately, there are large-scale outages in many other regions, including Dnipro and the Dnipropetrovsk region; Volhynia and the Zhytomyr region; Transcarpathia and the Ivano-Frankivsk region; the city of Odessa and its region; the Poltava region , the Ternopil region, the Chernihiv region and other cities and regions," Zelensky added.

In this regard, the Ukrainian head of state has appealed to the international community, in view of the serious damage suffered, to provide Ukraine with "the necessary means" to protect its airspace with an effective anti-aircraft defense system.

"You can do it. You can give our people protection, 100 percent protection from these Russian terrorist attacks," Zelensky said.
