The World Health Organization (WHO) has urged China this Friday to provide real-time information on the epidemiological situation in the country, which is facing an explosion of COVID-19 cases resulting from the withdrawal of most of the restrictions imposed. throughout the pandemic.

After the WHO has held a meeting with Chinese officials on the current situation of the coronavirus pandemic, the UN agency has stressed the importance of monitoring and "timely publication" of data in order to help China and the world community to "formulate accurate risk assessments and report effective responses."

"WHO again requested the regular exchange of specific and real-time data on the epidemiological situation, including more genetic sequencing data, data on the impact of the disease, including hospitalizations, admissions and deaths in the intensive care unit (ICU) ", read a statement released by the WHO.

Likewise, the health organization has asked China to provide data on the vaccines administered and the vaccination status, especially in vulnerable people and people over 60 years of age.

It has also requested the Asian giant to strengthen viral sequencing, clinical management and impact evaluation, expressing its willingness to provide support in these areas, as well as in the communication of risks about vaccination to counter doubts.
