The United States prohibits importing telecom services from Huawei and ZTE

MADRID, 26 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The United States announced this Friday the ban on importing telecommunications services from half a dozen Chinese companies, including Huawei and ZTE, for being considered a "national security risk."

These companies were included in 2021 on the list of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) where they were classified as an "unacceptable risk" to the national security of the US country, along with other radio and video surveillance equipment, as reported by CNBC.

The president of the FCC, Jessica Rosenworcel, has assured in a statement that these new rules "represent an important part" of the actions put in place to protect the American people against the "threat posed" by telecommunications equipment.

The Biden Administration thus continues with the policy imposed by Trump in technological matters with respect to the Chinese giant, for which Huawei was included in a 'blacklist' that left it outside the Google operating system.

Although, Washington had already prohibited Huawei from providing systems to the United States government and discouraged the use of its equipment in the private sector, fearing that it was a way to obtain information by Beijing Intelligence.
