The Supreme Court of Brazil temporarily removes the governor from the capital

MADRID, 9 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The judge of the Brazilian Supreme Court Alexandre de Moraes has separated for 90 days the governor of Brasilia, Ianeis Rocha, for having allegedly been aware of the assault on the institutions by Bolsonaro supporters.

Moraes made this decision during the early hours of Monday (local time), following the request of a senator --Randolfe Rodrigues-- and the Attorney General's Office, considering that the protesters had the approval of the Brasilia government to carry carry out the acts, as reported by G1.

"The violent escalation of criminal acts has resulted in the invasion of the buildings of the Planalto Palace, the National Congress and the Federal Supreme Court, with the depredation of public domain assets, as was widely reported by the national press," indicated the magistrate.

"(These) circumstances could only occur with the consent, and even the effective participation of the competent authorities in matters of public security and intelligence, since the organization of the alleged demonstrations was a notorious fact, which was disseminated by the Brazilian media" , has added.

Likewise, it has indicated that the evidence pointing against the governor is that the criminals were escorted by the security forces to the scene of the crime, that the Police did not show resistance given the seriousness of the situation, and that part of the personnel deployed did not comply the rules of the body.

Moraes has referred to the fact that some agents have recorded themselves, in what would seem a joking tone, witnessing the criminal acts. To this, the judge adds that the security secretary, Anderson Torres, should not have been released from his position at a time when the assault was still taking place.

Hours before, the magistrate assured that "the judiciary would not be lacking in Brazil", since "the despicable terrorist attacks against democracy and institutions would be held responsible."

After this, Moraes pointed out who would have financed the acts, as well as the instigators and members of the government who had participated in some way "in the illegal performance of anti-democratic acts."
