The 'Progress MS-21' spacecraft undocks from the ISS and crashes into the Pacific Ocean

MADRID, 19 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Russian freighter 'Progress MS-21' has undocked from the International Space Station (ISS) and has disintegrated this Sunday over the Pacific Ocean, as confirmed by the Russian space agency, Roscosmos.

"Today, Progress MS-21 was deorbited, entered the atmosphere and collapsed. Unburnt elements of its structure fell into a non-navigable area of the South Pacific Ocean," the space agency confirmed through a message in his Telegram channel.

The spacecraft detached from the ISS Poisk module at about 05:26 (Moscow local time) on February 18, after which the agency suddenly decided to postpone the departure of the freighter, which had been scheduled for 04.03 GMT to later proceed to be sunk at sea.

The 'Progress MC-21' ship was launched from the Baikonur spaceport on October 26, 2022 by the Soyuz-2.1 launch vehicle and two days later delivered more than 2,500 kg of cargo to the ISS, the agency has pointed out.

According to the Russian agency TASS, the ship's cargo included 705 kg of fuel; 420 kg of water; 41 kg of nitrogen, as well as almost 1,360 kg of various equipment and materials.

In addition, as the aforementioned agency has collected, 'Progress MS-21' also delivered New Year gifts to members of the Russian ISS crew from family and friends.
