The Italian Parliament approves the budgets of the Government of Meloni for 2023

ROME, 29 Dec. (DPA/EP) -

The Government of the Prime Minister of Italy, Giorgia Meloni, has carried out its budgets for next year, after the Senate voted in favor this Thursday, thus adding to the approval given by the Chamber of Deputies days before.

On this occasion, the Senate, with 107 votes in favor and 69 against, has endorsed the budgets of the far-right government of Italy. "Mission accomplished", celebrated the Minister of Economy, Giancarlo Giorgetti, after the vote.

Although the budgets are directed especially to try to weather the economic crisis caused by inflation and high electricity prices, the basic income aid (reddito di cittadinanza) has been removed from them.

In parallel, the Meloni government has also approved a decree to significantly limit the operations of humanitarian aid boats that rescue migrants who are adrift in the Mediterranean Sea.
