The head of Chinese diplomacy arrives in Moscow in full debate on a possible rapprochement

MADRID, 21 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The main person in charge of Chinese diplomacy, Wang Yi, has arrived in Russia on Tuesday, in the framework of a European tour that coincides with the fears confessed by Washington about a possible alliance between Beijing and Moscow in relation to the war in Ukraine.

The Russian Foreign Ministry has confirmed that Wang, China's state councilor, will meet Russia's head of diplomacy, Sergei Lavrov, on Wednesday, according to the official TASS news agency. Neither party has revealed whether there will be a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Among Wang's various stops in recent days is Munich, which hosted a security conference last weekend with the presence of dozens of international leaders. The Chinese counselor took the opportunity to meet with the US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, and the Ukrainian Foreign Minister, Dimitri Peskov.

China has avoided outright condemning the military offensive launched by Russian President Vladimir Putin on Ukraine, although it has criticized the United States for warning of a further alignment of Beijing with Moscow. Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelensky said in an interview with the newspaper 'Die Welt' that if China allies with Russia, it would amount to a "world war".
