The Government of Equatorial Guinea denounces "electoral interference" by Spain, France and the United States

MADRID, 6 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Foreign Minister of Equatorial Guinea, Simeón Oyono Esono Angüé, has denounced that diplomatic agents from the embassies of Spain, the United States and France are committing acts of "electoral interference" by participating in electoral rallies of opposition political parties with a view to general elections on November 20.

The minister, in an official statement, has also announced that, for this reason, Alfonso Barnuevo, David Gilmour and Laurent Polonceaux, ambassadors respectively of Spain, the United States and France, convened last Saturday as a sign of protest.

In the respective meetings, the minister conveyed to them ""the discomfort of his government" and urged them to "avoid this type of action in the future", for the sake of respect, both for the principles of International Law, as well as for the other postulates of the Charter of the United Nations.

"In the midst of an electoral confrontation, we do not understand the presence of diplomatic agents from these countries at political party rallies, which we consider once again to be interference," stressed Oyono Esono Angüé.

The minister recalls that he already warned the heads of the different diplomatic missions of the country on September 28 in a joint meeting to avoid "any type of interference in the internal affairs of Equatorial Guinea during the current electoral process" because "you have Claras keep their friendship," according to the official statement, published on their Twitter account.
