The FBI director reiterates the laboratory's version of the origin of COVID-19 and blames China for obstruction

MADRID, 1 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The director of the FBI, Christopher Wray, has reiterated this Tuesday the agency's position regarding the hypothesis that it was "most likely a possible laboratory incident" in Wuhan (China) the origin of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"The FBI has assessed for quite some time that the origins of the pandemic are likely to be a laboratory incident," the FBI chief remarked, assuring that investigations are continuing, while many details related to the investigation remain classified.

Likewise, Wray has asserted in an interview that China has been working to undermine the investigation of both the United States and other countries in the international community.

"I'll just make the point that the Chinese government, it seems to me, has been doing everything they can to try to thwart and obfuscate the work here. The work that we're doing, the work that our US government and close foreign partners are doing. And that is unfortunate for everyone," he said.

These statements by the FBI director have come two days after the Department of Energy (DOE, for its acronym in English) published a report in which it determined with "low confidence" that a leak from a laboratory was responsible. from the start of the pandemic.

However, the White House avoided confirming the position of the Biden Administration regarding the DOE report, after Beijing reproached it for politicizing the virus.
