MADRID, 9 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Far-right political leaders in Europe have distanced themselves from the violent demonstrations perpetrated in Brazil by supporters of former President Jair Bolsonaro, with particular forcefulness in the case of Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

"What is happening in Brazil cannot leave us indifferent," Meloni said, in a Twitter message in which he described as "unacceptable" the coordinated assault on the main institutions of the three powers in Brazil.

In his opinion, these types of incidents "are unacceptable and incompatible with any form of democratic dissent." "It is urgent that there be a return to normality and we express solidarity with the Brazilian institutions," he said.

For his part, the leader of the French National Group, Jordan Bardella, has "of course" condemned the incidents, warning that, in a democracy, one must "accept the results." However, he has ruled out that mobilizations of this caliber can take place in France, despite the discrepancies that he may have with the French president, Emmanuel Macron.

The Portuguese André Ventura, leader of the Chega! party, has said, however, that he "understands" the "pain" of those who "suddenly" find themselves governed "by a former prisoner bandit", alluding to Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, who spent a jail time for a conviction that was later overturned.

However, "democracy has its own rules and it is in the democratic arena where you must fight, not with violence!" he proclaimed.
